The motion detector controls the VCR’s recording at all time while lights only turn on the night, controlled by an internal photocell.

These motion detector cameras themselves do not record. In order to record only on motion, you need a motion detection VCR.When power is applied, the cameras are always on and continually send the video feed through RCA cable (wired) through the air (wireless) to your TV or video recording device. The motion activated VCR will allow you to record only when motion is present and saves you from having to view a lot of tape that is uneventful.
